Third Tuesday Sponsors

Third Tuesday is a community-oriented, volunteer-driven event. Third Tuesday wouldn’t be able to bring great speakers like Jeff Jarvis across the country without the support of some like-minded sponsors. Third Tuesday has been lucky to have some great companies step up over the past several years to help make the meet-up happen. Big thanks to CNW Group, Rogers Communications, .CA (the Canadian Internet Registration Authority), Radian6 and Cision Canada for making the 2011/12 Third Tuesday season possible.

Happy Halloween from Ford!

Maybe this explains how Cinderella was able to get to the ball in a pumpkin.

Subject: Hey!

Dear Very Good People,

I am sorry it has taken me this long to write to you. As most of you know, I type very slowly. Many of you probably believe I did not make it. And if it wasn’t for my great teammates, including Jack, pictured below, I don’t know if I would have. Who would have thought that such a young, bright, good looking guy like me would also turn out to be such a good athlete. Okay – none of you. But, by some miracle (and a little incentive) I actually ran a total of 8.7 kms (or 870,000 centimetres) on Saturday – without any crying or nosebleeds….okay, without any nosebleeds.

Pre-Run “Warm-Up”

Thanks to YOUR INCREDIBLE GENEROSITY, we raised an amazing $10,703! You are all very, very, very good people! And, because you are such kind and munificent souls, EDC has decided to contribute an additional $2,500! So in total, you have helped raise $13,203, which will go to the Oncology Department at CHEO and the Sears Childhood Cancer Fellowship.

Thank you, Merci, Grazie, Dziękuję, спасибі, хвала, Danke, buíochas a ghabháil leat, 감사합니다, A sheynem dank.!!!

Your very grateful pal always,

John / Jake

Third Tuesday Ottawa: Movember, a social movement, a social media movement, a real world good cause

Posted by Keelan on October 17th, 2011 Comments Leave a Comment

Tuesday, October 18, 2011, 6:00 PM
Hard Rock Cafe

73 York St., Ottawa, ON
Admission Fee: $10.00/per person (Refund policy)

Since its humble beginnings in Melbourne, Australia, Movember has grown to become a truly global movement inspiring more than 1.1 Million Mo Bros and Mo Sistas to participate, with formal campaigns in Australia, New Zealand, the US, Canada, the UK, Finland, the Netherlands, Spain, South Africa and Ireland. During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces, in Canada and around the world. With their “Mo’s”, these men raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer.

Movember Canada National Director Peter Bombaci will be our Third Tuesday speaker this month.

Hear the story behind what inspired Movember, and the role of public relations and social media in helping to spread its Australian beginnings into a global movement. Movember Canada membership grew from 35,000 to nearly 199,000, and donations increased by 280%, to $23 million, good for #2 in the world. It’s truly a case study of building an online community to do public good, across borders, across time zones, across oceans.

By attending, you’re making a contribution

All admission fees for this Third Tuesday will be contributed to Movember.
