Who hasn’t had to send a file yesterday that was too large for email?
Next time you find yourself in this situation, try YouSendIt.com.
I’ve used it a few times.
Not only can you get it there in a few minutes, eliminate the hassle of over-sized email attachments and avoid clogged inboxes, but you save the overnight courier cost of sending a CD/DVD. Plus its really easy to use.
A couple of weeks ago I posted about a less than positive experience I had with Rogers when purchasing a new Blackberry Pearl.
Today, I received this email asking me to join the new Rogers Advisory Panel. Two undoubtedly unrelated events.
I have joined the panel, which means I will be contacted up to twice a month to participate in short online surveys to help Rogers “better understand what customers like me want, both right now and in the future.”
I’ll see how it goes and will report anything of interest here.
Until a few weeks ago I was using a Linksys Wireless Router for wireless internet connectivity at home.
I found I was having to reset it relatively frequently and I had to un-install / re-install it a few times, so I bought an Apple Airport Express. I’d heard good things about it.

The Airport Express was super easy to set-up and secure. The Linksys took longer and more effort to set-up, plus I had to call the support line for assistance securing it.
Most importantly, I haven’t had to reset the Airport Express once yet.
The Airport Express is portable and can quickly turn any wired connection wireless. The latter is particularly handy in meeting rooms where more than one person wants to connect to the web, but there is only one cable.

Lastly, you can connect it to a printer and send documents for printing wirelessly.
Great, easy to use product for $160.
Bill Gates was speaking this morning at the National Arts Centre about the coming decade of change in the world’s ongoing digital revolution.
It was a very good presentation, and the speech was very well received. What impressed me as well was that he said he’d speak for 20 minutes, and then he did.
Twenty minutes on the future of technology and its impact on our lives.
The lesson for me? If that only took 20 minutes, then odds are good the longest any speech should be, ever, is 20 minutes.
The event started on time, ended early, and Mr. Gates is now the proud recipient of an Ottawa Senators jersey to boot.
Welcome to Ottawa, Mr. Gates — please come back soon.
After reading posts by Neville Hobson and David Akin about BlogJet 2, I downloaded it to give it a try.
I’ve only been blogging for a couple of months now and I wasn’t using posting software.
BlogJet 2, so far, works really well and makes posting a lot easier (e.g. spell checker).
I was having a hard time uploading videos directly from YouTube to my blog which is on WordPress.
I did it no problem with BlogJet.
I don’t seem to be having the issue Neville Hobson reported with the editor converting the word ‘BlogJet’ into a link every time I type it.
BlogJet 2 costs CAD $49.95 (USD $39.95) for a single-user license. If you’re upgrading from version 1, it’s USD $19.95.
Here’s an interesting post by Ryan Anderson of The New PR. He discusses the next generation DVD format, where its Toshiba vs Sony for control of high-def home movies, and the relevance the adult entertainment industry could play in the outcome.
He refers to a story on Wired Blog that says the adult industry is practically unanimous in its adoption of Toshiba’s HD-DVD standard. Due, in no small part, to the fact that Sony refused to license its Blu-ray technology to at least one porn distributor.
Ryan’s post points out that, “Historically, the porn industry has been key in driving the growth in technology of almost every major medium” and “most industry experts agree…that the adult industry was key in securing the success of VHS over the superior betamax format for home use.”
I have heard/read both of these points in the past.
